Browsing Turkey tours by duration is the easiest way to start planning, because the number of days you have decides how many regions you can enjoy without rushing. Turkey is a large country, and the gap between a relaxed trip and a hurried one is often just a day or two.

Choosing Turkey tours by duration

Think in regions rather than sights. Istanbul, Cappadocia, the Aegean coast around Ephesus and Pamukkale, and the Mediterranean around Antalya each deserve at least two nights. Between them you usually fly or drive for part of a day, so every extra region costs some travel time.

Count your arrival and departure days honestly too, and once you know roughly how long you can travel, use the filter above to sort Turkey tours by duration. Long-haul travellers often arrive tired, and a gentle first day in Istanbul makes the rest of the trip easier.

One to five days: short trips

A single day is enough for one major site from your base city, such as a guided day in Istanbul or a flight to Ephesus or Pamukkale and back. Two or three days suit one region well, for example Cappadocia with a night in a cave hotel, or Gallipoli and Troy.

With four or five days, you can pair Istanbul with one region or link Cappadocia, Ephesus and Pamukkale by air. Short gulet cruises along the Lycian coast also fit this length.

Six to nine days: the classic highlights

About a week is the most popular length for a first visit. It covers the classic circuit of Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus and Pamukkale with time to enjoy each place. Eight or nine days let you add the Mediterranean coast or simply slow down, with a free morning here and there.

A spare morning in Cappadocia is worth having, because hot air balloon flights depend on the weather and are sometimes postponed.

Ten days or longer

Ten to fourteen days open up western and central Turkey in depth: Gallipoli, Troy and Pergamon in the northwest, the Turquoise Coast, or several days on a gulet. Longer journeys can also reach Mount Nemrut, Göbekli Tepe and the cities of the southeast. If you want full control over a trip of this length, a private tour is worth considering.

 • Tip: when comparing Turkey tours by duration, check the number of nights as well as days.
 • Tip: choose fewer regions and longer stays rather than one new hotel every night.
 • Tip: in spring and autumn, popular routes and hotels fill early, so book ahead.
