This 10-day Cappadocia and Southeast Turkey tour is the longest programme in our southeast collection, a journey of around 3,500 km. You arrive at Ankara airport at 08:00 on the first day and finish back in Ankara on day ten, after a flight from Mardin.
The first three days are spent around Cappadocia. On the way from Ankara you stop at the Salt Lake, Ihlara Valley, the underground cities of Derinkuyu and Kaymaklı and Devrent (Dream) Valley. Day two can start with an early balloon flight at your own expense, followed by the Göreme Open-Air Museum and the valleys, Ürgüp and a pottery workshop, and ends with a whirling dervish (Sema) ceremony. On day three you see Uçhisar Castle and Salkım Hill before driving south to Adana by way of Tarsus.
From there the route turns east. In Gaziantep you visit the Zeugma Mosaic Museum and the castle, then continue to Halfeti for a boat trip and dinner. Day five covers Harran and Şanlıurfa, with the museum, the castle, Balıklıgöl and the historic bazaar. Day six takes you to Göbeklitepe, past the Karakuş Tumulus, over Cendere Bridge and up Mount Nemrut for sunset at the summit.
The final part focuses on Diyarbakır and Mardin: Hasan Pasha Han, the Grand Mosque, the Four-Legged Minaret, the walls and the Ten-Eyed Bridge, then three nights in Mardin with a hamam visit, a day for Deyrulzafaran, Dara, Beyazsu, Mor Gabriel and Midyat, and a day in the old city ending with a Turkish night. On day ten you fly from Mardin to Ankara, visit Ankara Castle at sunset and are transferred to the airport.
