This Southeast Turkey tour fits the highlights of the region into five private days, travelling by road from Diyarbakır to Gaziantep with your guide. The itinerary is built around a 07:00 Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Diyarbakır, landing at 08:55, and an evening flight from Gaziantep back to Istanbul at 19:35 on the last day, so it suits travellers who want to see the southeast in a short trip.
The first day starts in Diyarbakır with the city walls, the Grand Mosque, the Roman bridge and the Hasan Pasha and Deliller caravanserais. In the afternoon you continue to Hasankeyf for its castle, the Little and Great Palaces and the Grand Mosque, and arrive in Mardin for the night. On day two you drive to Midyat for Mor Barsovo Church, the traditional houses and the old streets, then return to Mardin for Kırklar Church, the Grand Mosque and the bazaar.
Day three begins at Deyrulzafaran Monastery and the madrasas of Sultan İsa and Kasımiye before you head west to Şanlıurfa, where Abraham’s sacred fish pool, the Halil-ür Rahman and Rızvaniye mosques and the old bazaar await. Day four takes you to Harran, with its castle, walls, Grand Mosque and traditional conical houses, then past the Atatürk Dam to Mount Nemrut to watch the sun set among the heads and statues of King Antiochus and the other kings of Commagene, before a late arrival in Kahta.
On the final day you visit the Karakuş Tumulus, the Roman bridge at Cendere and the ruins of Arsameia, have lunch in Gaziantep and see the Archaeological Museum and Zeugma before the transfer to Gaziantep airport.
