This Mount Nemrut tour from Mardin takes you to the summit of Mount Nemrut and its statues, and to the Commagene sites around Kahta. The programme is listed as two days and about 350 km, and you choose whether you want to be on the summit for sunrise or for sunset; the departure time is set according to the season, and for sunrise you leave at 02:30.
On the day plan, the visits start at 11:00 at Karakuş Hill and the Karakuş Tumulus. After lunch in Kahta you cross the Roman bridge at Cendere, see Old Kahta Castle and walk through the ruins of Arsameia, the summer city of Commagene.
Late in the afternoon the road climbs to the summit of Mount Nemrut, where you arrive at around 18:00 to see the terraces and the statues in the evening light. At 19:00 you start back towards Mardin or to your accommodation.
