This Sagalassos tour from Antalya is for travellers who are curious about ancient history and want to see a Roman city in the mountains rather than on the coast. The departure time is flexible and arranged to suit you, and you travel by air-conditioned car or minibus with hotel pickup and drop-off.
After a scenic drive of about two hours you reach Sagalassos, an ancient Roman city of the Pisidian region set high in the Taurus Mountains and one of Turkey’s best-preserved ancient sites. On the guided visit you walk through its well-kept ruins: the state agora, the large theatre, fountains, baths, temples and heroons, the monuments built to honour local heroes. It is a good place to imagine how grand this once-thriving city must have been.
After the visit there is a lunch break in the village of Ağlasun, where you can try a traditional village meal; lunch is not included in the price. The drive back takes you past Karacaören Dam Lake before you are dropped off at your hotel.
Entrance fees, hotel transfer, an air-conditioned car or minibus and traffic insurance are included. Drinks, lunch and personal expenses are not. You can join the tour per person or book it as a private tour for your own group.
The visit is guided in English, and Turkish guiding is also available. Shared departures take a maximum of 16 people, and children under 6 are booked in their own category, separate from adults and children aged 8 and over.
