This Eastern and Southeast Turkey tour connects two very different regions in seven private, guided days, from the shores of Lake Van to the plains of Şanlıurfa. It covers about 1,300 km, starts in Van and ends in Şanlıurfa, and is arranged for your own dates rather than as a fixed group departure.
The first two days are in the east. Around Van you see Hoşap Fortress, Van Fortress and the Van Cat Villa, and you can swim at Ayanis Beach on Lake Van. The next day heads to Ağrı and Doğubeyazıt for the Muradiye Waterfalls, a short walk with views of Mount Ararat and the Ishak Pasha Palace.
On day three you cross to the western side of the lake: the Armenian church on Akdamar Island, büryan tasting in Bitlis and Nemrut Crater Lake near Tatvan, before continuing to Diyarbakır. Day four is spent in Diyarbakır itself, with the Grand Mosque, the Ten-Eyed Bridge, Hasan Pasha Han, the Diyarbakır Museum, the city walls and the Armenian churches.
The last three days bring you into the southeast. In Mardin you explore the old town, the Grand Mosque, Kırklar Church, Mardin Museum and Kasımiye Madrasa. The Midyat day includes Dara, Deyrulzafaran Monastery, Beyazsu valley, Midyat and Mor Gabriel Monastery. The final day in Şanlıurfa starts at Göbeklitepe and continues with Balıklıgöl, the old bazaar, the Mosaic Museum and the Archaeological Museum.
Regional transport, airport transfers and guiding are included. Meals, entrance fees and transport to Van and from Şanlıurfa are not part of the price.
