This Mardin and Göbeklitepe tour links Mardin and Midyat with Göbeklitepe and Şanlıurfa in three private, guided days. It starts in Mardin and ends in Şanlıurfa, covers around 1,200 km in total, and is arranged for the dates you choose rather than run as a fixed group departure. You can plan your onward journey from either Şanlıurfa or Mardin.
On the first day you are collected at 09:00 from Mardin airport, the bus station or your accommodation. You visit the necropolis, cisterns, walls and dungeon of Dara, rest at Beyazsu (White Water), have lunch in Midyat and see Mor Gabriel Monastery. The Midyat Guest House from the Hercai series, tea at Gelüşke Han among filigree workshops, the Midyat caves and an hour in the bazaar complete the day before you return to Mardin.
The second day belongs to Mardin: Deyrulzafaran Monastery, Kasımiye Madrasa and a long afternoon on foot through the old town, from Kırklar Church and the Grand Mosque to Zinciriye Madrasa, the bazaars and the Sabancı City Museum.
On the third morning you drive to Şanlıurfa and reach Göbeklitepe at around 11:00. After lunch the Urfa programme takes in the Şanlıurfa Museum and the Mosaic Museum, the cave and mosque of the Prophet Job (Eyyüp), an hour of free time at Balıklıgöl, the sacred fish pool, and an evening walk past Urfa Castle, the covered Bedesten, the coppersmiths’ bazaar, the historic Gümrük Han and Harimiye Square. The tour ends at about 20:00.
Regional transport, airport transfers and guiding are included. Hasankeyf or Halfeti can be added for a surcharge per vehicle.
