About this tour

This Eastern Turkey tour crosses the high plateau from Lake Van to Erzurum in four days with a guide, covering about 1,000 km. It is a compact boutique programme for travellers who want to see the essential sites of the east in a short time, starting in Van and finishing in Erzurum, with airport transfers included at both ends.

The first day is spent around Van. You visit Van Fortress above the lake, the Van Cat Villa and Akdamar Island with its Armenian church. The afternoon ends at Ayanis Beach on Lake Van, where you can swim if you like.

On the second day the road leads north towards Ağrı and Doğubeyazıt. You stop at the Muradiye Waterfalls and Hoşap Fortress and reach the Ishak Pasha Palace in Doğubeyazıt. Day three heads to Kars by way of the salt caves at Tuzluca in Iğdır. The main visit of the day is the ruins of Ani, followed by Kars Castle and the Goose House.

The last day is in Erzurum, where you see the Yakutiye Madrasa, the Grand Mosque and the Rüstem Pasha Caravanserai, and browse the Oltu stone bazaars and the old bazaars.

The price covers transport within the region, airport transfers and guiding. Meals, entrance fees and transport to Van and from Erzurum are paid separately.
