About this tour

This 8 day Jordan tour is for travellers who want to cover the country from the Roman north to the Red Sea in one trip. It starts and ends at Amman airport and takes in Jerash, Ajloun, Amman, Madaba, Mount Nebo, Kerak, Petra, Little Petra, Wadi Rum, Aqaba, the Baptism Site and the Dead Sea over eight days and seven nights.

After Jerash, Ajloun Castle and an Amman city tour, you travel the King’s Highway via Madaba, Mount Nebo and Kerak to Petra. Your full day in Petra continues in the afternoon at Little Petra (Siq al-Barid), and the evening brings you to a Wadi Rum desert camp for a Bedouin-style dinner and traditional music.

A 2-hour jeep tour of Wadi Rum leads on to a night in Aqaba on the Red Sea. You then drive north along the Dead Sea Highway to the Baptism Site, Bethany Beyond the Jordan, and spend the last two nights at the Dead Sea, one of them after a free day. Itinerary

Welcome to Jordan. Our representative meets you at Amman airport, helps you with the arrival formalities and takes you to your hotel. Dinner and overnight in Amman. Meals: dinner.

Head north to Jerash, ancient Gerasa and one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the Middle East, to see Hadrian's Arch, the Oval Plaza, the colonnaded street and the Temple of Artemis. Next is Ajloun Castle, built in 1184 by a commander of Salah ad-Din to keep watch over the Jordan Valley. Back in Amman, tour the Citadel with the Temple of Hercules and the Umayyad Palace, then the Roman Theatre and the old downtown markets. Dinner and overnight in Amman. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Begin in Madaba, the "City of Mosaics", where the Church of St. George holds a 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land. Then go up Mount Nebo, the place from which Moses looked out over the Promised Land; on a clear day you can see across the Jordan Valley to Jericho and Jerusalem. The King's Highway then leads to Kerak Castle, one of the largest Crusader castles in the region, standing on a hilltop above the Dead Sea valley. Continue to Petra for dinner and overnight. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Spend a full day in Petra, the rose-red city of the Nabataeans and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After a short ride on horseback you continue on foot through the Siq to the Treasury, then past the Street of Facades and the Theatre to the Royal Tombs. Early morning and late afternoon give the best light. In the afternoon, visit Little Petra (Siq al-Barid), a smaller Nabataean settlement with carved facades and a painted ceiling. In the evening, continue to a desert camp in Wadi Rum for a Bedouin-style dinner, an evening of traditional music and a night under the desert sky. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

After breakfast at the camp, set off on a 2-hour 4x4 jeep tour of Wadi Rum, the "Valley of the Moon". The route passes sandstone and granite mountains, red dunes, natural arches and ancient rock inscriptions left by the Nabataeans and the peoples before them. Then continue to Aqaba on the Red Sea for dinner and overnight. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Drive north along the Dead Sea Highway to the Baptism Site, Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where John the Baptist lived and baptised Jesus (John 1:28). It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important places of Christian pilgrimage in Jordan. Continue to the Dead Sea. At the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth at more than 400 metres below sea level, the salty water lets you float with ease, and the mineral-rich mud is famous for its benefits. Dinner and overnight at the Dead Sea. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

A free day at the Dead Sea: relax, float in the water and enjoy the facilities of the resort. Dinner and overnight at the Dead Sea. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

After breakfast at the hotel you are transferred to Amman airport, where our representative helps you with the departure formalities. Meals: breakfast.
