About this tour

This eight-day Jordan and Jerusalem Muslim tour suits Muslim travellers who want to pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque and also see more of Jordan itself. Starting at Queen Alia International Airport, the trip spends four nights in Amman and three in Jerusalem, so the second half gives you a full day in the north of Jordan at Jerash, Ajloun Castle and Umm Qais.

After a panoramic tour of Amman, you visit the shrines of the Companions Abd al-Rahman bin Awf and Bilal bin Rabah, the Umayyad desert castles and the Blessed Tree. Crossing the Allenby (King Hussein) Bridge, you stop in Jericho and at the shrine of Nabi Musa, then visit the Mount of Olives and the shrines of Rabia al-Adawiyya and Salman al-Farisi on the way to Jerusalem.

A full day in the Old City includes the Dome of the Rock, the Mosque of Omar, the old markets and time for prayer at Al-Aqsa. Bethlehem, the mosque and shrine of Prophet Ibrahim in Hebron and the shrine of Nabi Dawood follow, before you return to Jordan for the Dead Sea. The last morning takes in the Cave of the Seven Sleepers and the shrine of Prophet Shu’ayb.

Itinerary

Our representative meets you at Queen Alia International Airport and helps with arrival. A panoramic tour shows you Jordan's capital, including downtown and the old part of the city, before you check in. Dinner and overnight in Amman.

Visit the shrines of the Companions Abd al-Rahman bin Awf and Bilal bin Rabah, then travel east to the Umayyad desert castles, fortified palaces of the former Umayyad province of Bilad al-Sham spread across Jordan's arid east. Continue to the Blessed Tree in the east of Jordan, the last living tree from the Companions' era, beneath which the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) rested on his journey to Syria. Back to Amman for dinner and overnight.

Transfer to the Allenby (King Hussein) Bridge and cross the border. In Jericho, counted among the oldest inhabited cities in the world, you stop for lunch before visiting the shrine of Nabi Musa. Then continue to the Mount of Olives, the ridge east of the Old City named after the olive groves that once covered it, for the shrines of Rabia al-Adawiyya and Salman al-Farisi. Dinner and overnight at your Jerusalem hotel.

A full day in the Old City, home to the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Browse the old markets and visit the Mosque of Omar, then spend the rest of the day in prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

Head south into the West Bank to Bethlehem, birthplace of Jesus (peace be upon him), where a silver star in the grotto beneath the 6th-century Church of the Nativity marks his birth; the church shares Manger Square with the Church of St. Catherine. Drive on to Hebron for the mosque and shrine of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and then to the shrine of Nabi Dawood. Dinner and a final overnight in Jerusalem.

Cross the border back into Jordan and drive down to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on dry land at more than 400 metres below sea level. Its very salty water keeps you afloat with ease, and its mineral-rich black mud is used in treatments at the resorts. Continue to Amman for dinner and overnight.

North of Amman, Jerash has been inhabited since the Bronze Age and preserves the walled Greco-Roman city of Gerasa, with Hadrian's Arch, the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis and the oval colonnaded Forum. Ajloun Castle, raised in 1184 by the forces of Salah ad-Din against the Crusaders, has a small archaeological museum. The day ends at Umm Qais, the ruins of ancient Gadara, a Decapolis city and a centre of Greek culture in the region. Return to Amman for dinner and overnight.

Visit the Cave of the Seven Sleepers (As-Hab al-Kahf) in Abu Alanda, a suburb of Amman. As Surah al-Kahf relates, devout young men sheltered here from a tyrannical pagan king and Allah caused them to sleep for 309 years. Continue to the shrine of Prophet Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) and then to the airport, where our representative assists you with departure.
