This Petra tour from Amman is for travellers who want a full day in Petra and Jordan’s main sights near the capital, without moving between hotels in different towns. It starts at Amman airport, lasts four days and three nights, and keeps all three nights in Amman, with breakfast and dinner marked on each day.
Day 2 is given entirely to Petra: a short horseback ride, the walk through the Siq to the Treasury, and the Street of Facades, the Theatre and the Royal Tombs, before you return to Amman for the night.
On Day 3 you see Madaba’s 6th-century mosaic map and the view from Mount Nebo, then float in the Dead Sea and finish with a panoramic tour of downtown Amman, the old markets and the Roman Theatre. In Madaba, the "City of Mosaics", see the 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land in the Church of St. George. Then climb Mount Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land, and look out over the Jordan Valley towards Jericho and Jerusalem. Continue to the Dead Sea for time to float in the water, then return to Amman for a panoramic tour of downtown, the old markets and the Roman Theatre. Dinner and overnight in Amman.
