4 Days 3 Nights
Biblical Tour

This 4 day Jordan biblical tour is for pilgrims, church groups and anyone curious about the Christian story east of the Jordan River who wants a lot in a short trip. Starting from Amman airport and staying all three nights in Amman, it covers the north and the centre of the country: Roman Jerash, the shrine of Our Lady of the Mountain, Gadara at Umm Qais, Madaba, Mount Nebo, the Baptism Site and the fortress of Mukawir.
Compared with our three-day Madaba and Nebo program, the extra day goes north. At Anjara you visit a church built at a cave where, by tradition, Jesus, his disciples and the Virgin Mary rested on their travels, one of Jordan’s official Christian pilgrimage sites. At Umm Qais, the Decapolis city linked to the Gospel story of the healing of the demoniacs, you look out over the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights.
Day three is devoted to the Baptism Site, Bethany Beyond the Jordan, with the Hill of Elijah close by and a float in the Dead Sea, and the last morning visits Mukawir and the mosaics of Umm ar-Rasas before your transfer to the airport.

Our representative greets you at Amman airport, and your visit starts straight away with the old part of Amman, the Roman Theatre and the Citadel, followed by free time downtown. Then check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Begin in Jerash, ancient Gerasa, walking from Hadrian's Arch to the Oval Plaza, along the colonnaded street and up to the Temple of Artemis. At Anjara, the Church of Our Lady of the Mountain stands at a cave where tradition holds that Jesus, his disciples and the Virgin Mary stopped to rest on their journeys; it is recognised as one of Jordan's official Christian pilgrimage sites. End the day at Umm Qais, ancient Gadara, a Decapolis city associated with the Gospel account of the healing of the demoniacs, overlooking the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights. Dinner and overnight in Amman.
In Madaba, the 'City of Mosaics', see the 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land in the Church of St. George. On Mount Nebo, where Moses looked over the Promised Land, the view stretches across the Jordan Valley towards Jericho and Jerusalem. Next is the Baptism Site, Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where John the Baptist lived and baptised Jesus (John 1:28); it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and among the most important places of Christian pilgrimage in Jordan. Close by is the Hill of Elijah (Tell Mar Elias), traditionally connected with the prophet's ascent to heaven. Finish at the Dead Sea, more than 400 metres below sea level and the lowest point on earth, where the salty water keeps you afloat and the mud is rich in minerals. Return to Amman for dinner and overnight.
Visit Mukawir, the hilltop fortress of Machaerus where Herod Antipas held John the Baptist prisoner (Matthew 14:3–11), with views across the Dead Sea. Then continue to Umm ar-Rasas, ancient Kastron Mefa'a, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for the mosaic floor of the Church of St. Stephen, before your transfer to Amman airport.
