About this tour

This 10 day Jordan tour is the most complete of our classic Jordan itineraries, made for travellers who want every major site plus real beach and resort time. From Amman airport, it covers Jerash and Ajloun, the King’s Highway via Madaba, Mount Nebo and Kerak, a full day in Petra and Little Petra, and a desert camp in Wadi Rum, before you settle in on the Red Sea and then at the Dead Sea.

Two free days set this program apart: a whole day in Aqaba, Jordan’s only coastal city, to enjoy the beach or book activities such as snorkelling and diving, and a whole day at the Dead Sea to float and enjoy the resort. On the way back to Amman you visit the Baptism Site and the UNESCO-listed town of As-Salt.

You stay nine nights in Amman, Petra, Wadi Rum, Aqaba and the Dead Sea, with breakfast and dinner every day as listed in the program.

Itinerary

Our representative meets you at Amman airport and assists with arrival formalities, then you transfer to your hotel in Amman for dinner and overnight. (Dinner)

Begin in the north at Jerash, ancient Gerasa, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the Middle East, walking from Hadrian's Arch to the Oval Plaza, along the colonnaded street and up to the Temple of Artemis. Continue to Ajloun Castle, built in 1184 by a commander of Salah ad-Din to watch over the Jordan Valley. Back in Amman, visit the Citadel with the Temple of Hercules and the Umayyad Palace, the Roman Theatre and the old downtown markets. Dinner and overnight in Amman. (Breakfast, Dinner)

See the 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land in the Church of St. George in Madaba, the 'City of Mosaics'. At Mount Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land, the view on a clear day reaches the Jordan Valley, Jericho and Jerusalem. The King's Highway then takes you to Kerak Castle, one of the largest Crusader castles in the region, set on a hilltop above the Dead Sea valley. Continue to Petra for dinner and overnight. (Breakfast, Dinner)

A full day in Petra, the rose-red Nabataean city and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After a short horse ride, walk through the Siq to the Treasury and continue along the Street of Facades to the Theatre and the Royal Tombs; the light is best in the early morning and late afternoon. In the afternoon, visit Little Petra (Siq al-Barid), a smaller Nabataean settlement with carved façades and a painted ceiling. In the evening, a Wadi Rum desert camp welcomes you with a Bedouin-style dinner, traditional music and a night under the desert sky. (Breakfast, Dinner)

After breakfast at camp, a 2-hour 4x4 jeep tour takes you through Wadi Rum, the 'Valley of the Moon', with its sandstone and granite mountains, red dunes, natural arches and rock inscriptions left by the Nabataeans and earlier peoples. Continue to Aqaba on the Red Sea for dinner and overnight. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Spend the day as you like in Aqaba, Jordan's only coastal city on the Red Sea. Relax on the beach, or choose optional activities such as swimming, snorkelling, diving among the coral reefs or a glass-bottom boat trip. Dinner and overnight in Aqaba. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Drive north on the Dead Sea Highway to the Baptism Site, Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where John the Baptist lived and baptised Jesus (John 1:28); it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important Christian pilgrimage places in Jordan. Continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth at more than 400 metres below sea level, where you float effortlessly in the salty water and can try the famous mineral-rich mud. Dinner and overnight at the Dead Sea. (Breakfast, Dinner)

A free day to relax, float in the water and enjoy the resort's facilities. Dinner and overnight at the Dead Sea. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Visit As-Salt, a hill town of honey-coloured limestone houses inscribed by UNESCO in 2021 as a place of tolerance and urban hospitality. Continue to Amman, with free time for shopping. Dinner and overnight in Amman. (Breakfast, Dinner)

After breakfast, transfer to Amman airport, where our representative assists you with departure formalities. (Breakfast)
