Salda Lake Greets its Visitors in Autumn

Salda Lake Turkey

With its immaculate blue seas and coastline, Lake Salda is frequently referred to as “Turkey’s Maldives,” but experts believe the lake may provide more than just beauty. In the lake in the western province of Burdur, researchers from Istanbul Technical University (ITÜ) recently completed a study funded by the Ministry of Environment, Urban Planning, and Climate Change. The investigation into the microbial life of Lake Salda tries to clarify any connections between it and Mars, a planet that is literally millions of miles away. Future research on samples that NASA missions have brought back from Mars will use this work as a guide.

A well-known tourist site, the lake with special preservation status gained international attention when NASA posted pictures of it on social media and compared it to the Jezero Crater on Mars, where it dispatched its Perseverance Rover last year.

In the fall, Salda Lake in Burdur’s Yeşilova neighbourhood opens its doors to visitors. White sand and turquoise water attracted attention to Salda Lake, which the US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) claimed to have a comparable mineral formation and geological structure to Jezero Crater on Mars.

Visitors from different Turkish provinces and overseas were welcomed to the lake. With the coming of autumn, Salda Lake gained a new level of beauty. While others went swimming, several tourists from home and abroad took selfies near the lake. It is permitted to enter the water in Public Beach, Natural Park, Doanbaba Beach, and Kayadibi Beaches, with the exception of the White Islands region of the lake, which will no longer be accessible after October 15, 2020, per the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.
