On February 18, 1935, Atatürk, the leader of the Turkish Republic, paid a visit to Alanya. Mr. Tevfik Azakoglu, the owner of the house where he stayed and rested for a while, donated it to the Ministry of Culture. In 1987, the house was repaired, furnished, and presented to the public as the “Atatürk House and Museum.” In the museum’s first floor chambers, Atatürk’s personal possessions, photographs, a telegram written by Atatürk and sent to the people of Alanya, and other historical documents are on display. A traditional Alanya house with all of its features is preserved in the second floor rooms, and samples of ethnographical goods unique to the region are on display in Ataturk Museum.
The Ataturk House Museum is a national museum in Antalya dedicated to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s trips to the city. Antalya was a little town during Atatürk’s time, but he rated it as one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Ataturk Museum is housed in a two-story Ottoman home that has been meticulously restored to its original appearance and character. During his official travels to Antalya in 1930 and 1935, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk resided at the home, which belonged to the province’s governorship. The structure was given to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1984 to be converted into a museum. The house was reconstructed on the same site with the financial assistance of a local energy distribution firm. The museum first opened its doors to the public in 1986.
Newspapers, photos, and documents from Atatürk’s travels to Antalya between March 6–10, 1930, and February 18–19, 1935 are on display on the first floor. Two working rooms and a bedroom are located on the second level. A collection of banknotes, coins, commemorative coins, and postage stamps issued since the proclamation of the Republic is on display in another section of that level.
The room holding Atatürk’s personal possessions, which were moved from the Antkabir tomb in Ankara, is the most important element of the museum.

How to Get to Ataturk Museum
Cross the main road in front of the Liberty Hotels Lara and wait for the LC07 to arrive at the bus stop. The ‘Yenikap’ police station bus stop is the closest bus stop to The Atatürk House & Museum. From the police station, travel 50 metres in the direction of the one-way traffic to the next junction. Turn left at the intersection and walk the short distance to the road’s end. The Old Antalyaspor football stadium and the entrance to Karaaliolu Park are located at the end of the road. Turn right after crossing the main road, stroll along the indoor sports stadium, and you’ll see the distinctive traditional Ottoman House, which is a salmon colour, 50 metres ahead.
